A heartwarmingly moment between two young Indian players, Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar, was highlighted as India prepares for their five-match Test series against England.
Sai Sudharsan talked candidly about the significant impact Washington Sundar has had on his cricket career in a video released by the BCCI.
Reflecting on their shared roots in Chennai, Sai recalled, “I’ve played a few games against him, and it’s always been special. I’ve looked up to him a lot. The way he rose quickly and played for India really inspired me. Watching him do well in the IPL and then represent the country made me feel like I wanted to follow the same path.”
A visibly moved Washington responded with a smile, saying “God bless you,” before adding more seriously, “He’s told me that quite a few times. A lot of my friends and coaches have spoken about his growth. Every year, he’s just gotten better. His work ethic and skill set have been inspirational – not just for Chennai kids, but many others around the world.”
India's 2025 Test tour of England kicks off a new World Test Championship cycle on June 20 at Headingley, Leeds.
