BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia will meet with India men's cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir and top selector Ajit Agarkar later this week in Guwahati to discuss central contracts ahead of an IPL 2025 encounter between the Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings.
Notably, the board typically discloses the core contracts before the start of an IPL season; however, only the women's yearly retainership has been made public thus far.
According to a source in Dainik Jagran, the announcement was delayed because Gambhir was unavailable for discussions due to personal issues. According to the source, a top BCCI decision-maker’s right hand has already inquired about the central contracts over the phone with team management and the chief selector.
However, decision-makers are not on the same page regarding the future of some players, and efforts will be made to reach an agreement during the meeting on March 30th.
It is expected that significant revisions will be made to the contracts, which will also provide insight into what lies ahead for India's top international cricket talent.
According to the source, the BCCI is considering changes to the Indian support staff, which comprises Gambhir (head coach), Morne Morkel (bowling coach), Abhishek Nayar (assistant coach), Ryan ten Doeschate (assistant coach), and T Dilip (fielding coach).
It also features training associates Raghavendra and Dayanand Garani, physiotherapist Kamlesh Jain, and masseurs Arun Kanade, Chetan Kumar, and Rajeev Kumar.
While individuals who have recently joined the team will remain on the huge staff, others, such as fielding coach T Dilip, who has been with the group for almost three years, may be let go. According to reports, BCCI intends to reduce its staff while also hiring a few new faces.
