Afghanistan Captain Asghar Afghan is mighty impressed with his side's another all-round performance in the third One-day International of the just concluded series against Ireland and is very happy with the way rising Asian giants looked in conditions they are likely to encounter in next year's ICC Cricket World Cup in England.

Afghanistan followed their dominance in the T20I series with a stellar one in the ODI series. Having clinched the T20Is series 2-0, they won the ODIs 2-1 after a stutter in the second game at Belfast.

On Friday, August 31, Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi got into the act and bundled the home side for just 124 before the 37th over and then, with the help of a very good 57 from Ihsanullah Janat and Rahmat Shah & Hashmatullah Shahidi's fine innings of 33 and 34, won the game by eight wickets to seal another series win over Ireland.

Having seen his team complete a comprehensive effort, Asghar was quoted saying, “I will give credit to our fast bowlers. They were very good today. I will give credit to our fielding also. I [thank] all the Afghanistan supporters, especially to the ones who came and supported us,”

On the other hand, Ireland ODI Captain William Porterfield expressed disappointment over his boys' performance and said, “We knew early on was the best time to bat on a surface like that, and that it would slow up as the game went on, but we just didn’t get enough runs to provide a challenge,”

"We knew, looking at the first two games, that we needed to get a good total on the board – it was never going to be a high-scoring affair. Losing those three [early] wickets in the space of a couple of runs put us on the back foot. We knew from there we’d have to play well to get back into it and Kevin [O’Brien] and Simi [Singh] showed a glimpse of that with a good partnership." he concluded.
