England and India are battling it out in the first Test of the five-match series at Edgbaston. England batted first and scored 287 runs.
For England, Joe Root top-scored with 80 runs and Jonny Bairstow scored 70 runs. India wrapped up the England innings in the second over of the second day, with Shami picking his third wicket of the innings. R Ashwin picked 4/62 and was the pick of Indian bowlers.
However, former India opener turned cricket pundit Aakash Chopra has picked another bowler as his Indian bowler of the series. That name is of Ishant Sharma, who bowled brilliantly but picked 1/46 from 17 overs.
Ishant was a star bowler for India last time around in 2014, and his 7/74 helped India won the Lord’s Test and take a lead in the series.
Aakash Chopra tweeted that, “Early Call—Ishant Sharma to have one of the most fruitful Test series in his career. 20+ wickets if he stayed fit. #EngvInd”
