The opening day of the first Test between England and India was full of excitement. Apart from the fierce contest between bat and ball, cricket fans also witnessed some animated moments on the field. Among them stands India skipper Virat Kohli's run out of Joe Root.

Kohli produced a brilliant piece of fielding to dismiss Root on 80 and then mocked his English counterpart for his mic drop celebration. Root, who became the quickest English batsman to reach 6000 runs, was looking all set for a century before Virat’s off-balanced one-handed throw hit the bull's eye.

Here’s the video:

It is worth mentioning here that Root had anchored England to a thumping eight-wicket victory in the series-deciding third ODI against India at Headingley two weeks ago. The England Test captain then celebrated his success with a unique 'bat-drop' celebration that had become the talk of the town.

Coming to the match, India restricted England to 285/9 at stumps on Day 1, courtesy a brilliant bowling performance from Ravichandran Ashwin. The off-spinner produced one of his most impactful performances outside the sub-continent, registering his best figures (4/60) in Test cricket across South Africa, England and Australia as the hosts lost six wickets for 69 runs in the final session.
