The physical condition of fast-bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar is in continuous assessment and monitoring of the board's medical staff, as Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) All-India senior selection committee on Wednesday, July 18 announced India's squad that will be taking on against England in the upcoming 5-match Test series.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been going through the back issues for a while. He couldn't consistently feature for Sunrisers Hyderabad in this edition of the Indian Premier League and has largely been missing from the playing XI during the limited-overs leg of the tour in Ireland and England. He played at less than 100% fitness in the final One-dayer at Headingley and infact, ended up exasperating the issue.

Kumar's inclusion in the Test series is being assessed, as the BCCI release stated, "Bhuvneshwar Kumar aggravated a lower back condition in the 3rd ODI. His condition is being assessed & a call on his inclusion in the Test squad will be made soon."

Barring the surprise call-up to Rishabh Pant and confidence shown in Shardul Thakur, the rest of the squad shows consistency and continuity from the tour of South Africa on both the selector's and the team management's part, as Virat Kohli's men look to try and amass a rare overseas series triumph.

Squad:-

Virat Kohli (c), Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, M Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Karun Nair, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Rishabh Pant, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Shardul Thakur.
