England and India will start their three-match ODI series after a closely fought T20I series was won by India to start their England tour on a positive note. The first match of the ODI series will be played at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.

Trent Bridge has been a good hunting ground for England, as they recently smashed the all-time world record ODI score of 481 runs against Australia and might be looking to do the same against India too. England batsmen love playing on the ground and have many things going for them.

India will be playing without their premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and with Bhuvneshwar Kumar also hampered by an injury, England might look for another huge score. However, India has something that Australia didn’t possess, and that is a very good spinning combination, which has been on a role for quite some time. England played Kuldeep off safely in the final T20I and didn’t let him pick a wicket, but with 10 overs of him to face in ODIs, playing him off will not be an option.

Indian batting will need to come together, especially Shikhar Dhawan, whose bat has been quiet for the T20Is so far, needs to come back into form and give India quick starts. KL Rahul might get to play at his preferred spot of no.3, with Kohli dropping to no.4 spot.

The interesting thing to see is who will be the third seam option for India –Umesh Yadav or Siddharth Kaul; in absence of Bumrah.

Whatever happens, we are in for a cracker of ODI series with the no.1 side taking on the no.2 side to decide the ODI supremacy.
