KL Rahul hit a sublime unbeaten century to lead India to a dominant 8-wicket victory over England in the first Twenty20 International at the Old Trafford in Manchester on Tuesday (July 3).

Chasing 160 to win, Rahul scored a breezy 54-ball 101*, laced with 10 fours and 5 sixes to guide his team home with 10 balls to spare. It was Rahul’s second ton in T20I cricket and he became the second Indian to accomplish this feat after Rohit Sharma.

Besides Rahul’s jaw-dropping strokeplay, his dab celebration after reaching the milestone also grabbed the attention of the cricket fraternity.

Speaking to Dinesh Karthik after the match for BCCI’s website, Rahul gave insight about his unique celebration style.

“By the end of the England series, I want to have different handshake with all the members in the team. I have one with Hardik and one with Virat,” Rahul said.

He also revealed that the ‘dab celebration’ with skipper Kohli is something he has taken from Portugal football legend Cristiano Ronaldo's book.

Talking about his innings, Rahul looked visibly delighted and said: “This is very satisfying. I have a few international hundreds but this means the world to me. The last international hundred I got was about two years ago. I have been getting fifties in the IPL and in the Test matches and been in and out of the ODI team. So, It has been a rough road in the last one and half years with injuries.”

Elaborating his rough patch, the 26-year-old stated: “I can’t really say it was rough or hard because I was getting the fifties. Sometime being out of form is getting out on a single digit but that wasn’t happening.  I was getting starts, I was batting well. Obviously a couple of injuries, going in and out of the team, not finding a spot after some time was always been tough. So, to get that opportunity and to finally get that three-figure mark was satisfying.”
