Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has reportedly been ruled out from Mumbai’s upcoming Ranji Trophy 2024-25 semi-final against Vidarbha. The match will begin on Monday in Nagpur’s VCA Stadium, and Jaiswal has reportedly suffered an ankle injury over the weekend.

Jaiswal, who was originally named to India's Champions Trophy 2025 squad, was replaced as a late replacement by Varun Chakaravarthy. He was designated as a non-traveling reserve for the Champions Trophy 2025 by BCCI.

Mumbai would not name a substitute for Jaiswal for the semi-final match, considering their existing resources, which include Ajinkya Rahane, Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, and Shardul Thakur. Dube is also included as a non-traveling reserve in India's Champions Trophy squad and will fly to Dubai if necessary.

Jaiswal has only played one Ranji Trophy game in the 2024-25 season, a group match against Jammu and Kashmir, in which he scored 4 and 26 in two innings as Mumbai lost by five wickets. Defending champions Mumbai haven't had an easy ride in the Ranji Trophy this season.

On the other hand, Vidarbha is in fantastic form, having won seven of their eight Ranji games this season. They defeated Tamil Nadu by 198 runs in the quarterfinals.
