Virat Kohli enjoys a massive fan following across the globe but in India, his homeland, the star batter’s popularity is on a different level.
The Kohli mania was full on display during Delhi’s Ranji Trophy fixture against Railways, which concluded on Saturday (February 1). This game marked his first in India’s premier domestic red-ball tournament after nearly 13 years.
Fans turned up in huge numbers to cheer for Kohli and it seemed like a festival at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
After the game, Virat Kohli made sure that he gave time to ground staff and the police officials. The Indian stalwart was seen clicking pictures with the non-playing staff on the ground, and the video of the incident was shared by the BCCI on their social media handle.
In the clip, Kohli can be seen taking a picture with Railways player Karn Sharma before posing with ground staff and police constables. He was also seen having a fun time with the players of both Delhi and Railways.
Virat Kohli walked into bat on his Ranji comeback amid a rousing reception from the capacity crowd. However, he failed to live up to the expectations.
Kohli was knocked over by Himanshu Sangwan for 6 off 15 balls, and his brief knock included only one boundary.
Coming to the match, Delhi completed an innings and 19-run victory over Railways on Saturday. After conceding a huge first-innings lead of 133 runs, Railways second innings crumbled under pressure as they were bowled out for 114.
Off-spinner Shivam Sharma starred with the ball for Delhi in the second innings, returning with the figures of 5 for 33 in 11 overs.
