The ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024 match between India A and India B being played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru saw India A struggling against quality bowling by India B pacers, notably Navdeep Saini.
India A had won the toss and elected to field first. And their bowlers gave them an advantage as well, reducing India B to 94/7 at one stage. But then Musheer Khan and Navdeep Saini added 205 runs for the 8th wicket to bring their team back into the game.
Musheer made a brilliant 181 runs with 16 fours and 5 sixes, while Saini hit 56 runs with 8 fours and 1 six, taking India B to 321 runs. For India A, Akash Deep picked 4/60, while Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan took 2 wickets each.
In response, India A openers Shubman Gill, the captain, and Mayank Agarwal started solidly. The duo added 57 runs for the first wicket and were looking strong until Navdeep Saini sent both of them packing in no time.
First to go was Shubman Gill, who received a peach of a delivery by Saini. The ball pitched outside off stump on a length. Gill shouldered arms to let the ball go to the keeper, but the ball nipped back in sharply and shattered his stumps. Shubman Gill had to go back to the pavilion for 36 runs.
Next to go was Mayank Agarwal, who was also dismissed by Navdeep Saini. Saini bowled a delivery on Mayank’s pads. Mayank tried to nudge it past the keeper. However, Rishabh Pant, keeping wickets for India B, dived a long way to his left and plucked the catch two-handed to send the Karnataka batter home. Mayank made 25 runs with the bat.
