The BCCI Men’s Selection Committee on Wednesday (August 14) announced the squads for the first round of the Duleep Trophy 2024-25.
The Duleep Trophy, which marks the beginning of red-ball cricket in the domestic season, will see some of the finest players from the international circuit and some of the young and emerging talent compete at the highest level.
India opener Shubman Gill has been named captain of Team A, also featuring international stars such as KL Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav, Dhruval Jurel among others.
Abhimanyu Easwaran has been handed the captaincy of Team B, which includes Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Siraj and some other notable names.
Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead Team C, which features Suryakumar Yadav, Sai Sudharsan, Rajat Patidar, Umran Malik to name a few.
India middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer will captain Team D and the side is studded with prominent names such as Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Ishan Kishan, Devdutt Padikkal among others.
The First-Class tournament is slated to get underway on September 5, 2024, in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh and M Chinnaswamy stadium, Bengaluru.
“The athletes who will be selected to represent India for the home Test series against Bangladesh will be replaced in the Duleep Trophy,” BCCI’s statement read.
Nitish Kumar Reddy’s participation in the Duleep Trophy is subject to fitness.
