Veteran Mumbai seamer Dhawal Kulkarni bid adieu to cricket in style as he picked the final wicket to fall in the final of Ranji Trophy 2024 against Vidarbha.
This match was played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and saw the hosts winning by 169 runs and becoming champions for the 42nd time in their history. Vidarbha was set a huge 538 runs to win the Ranji Trophy and gave it a good fight as well.
Karun Nair made 74 runs and Harsh Dubey shined with the bat as well, scoring 65 runs. Captain Akshay Wadkar led from the front, scoring 102 runs, but the total was way out of their reach. Vidarbha folded for 368 runs and lost the game by 169 runs.
Dhawal Kulkarni, who was picked in the Mumbai XI ahead of injured Mohit Avasthi, had announced his retirement from the game and he got a chance to finish off in style as well.
He picked the final Vidarbha wicket to fall to finish off their innings and make Mumbai 42-time Ranji Trophy champions. The wicket was of Umesh Yadav, who was clean bowled by Kulkarni as he tried to hoick the ball for a maximum.
Dhawal Kulkarni ended his career on a high by picking the wicket which made his team, Mumbai Ranji Trophy champions.
