The right-hander notched up his three-figure mark on the second day of Mumbai's match against Tamil Nadu at Brabourne Stadium.

Sarfaraz came out to bat at No. 5 when Mumbai were in a spot of bother at 79/3 in reply to Tamil Nadu’s first inning total of 144. The scorecard soon became 90/4 as skipper Ajinkya Rahane returned to the pavilion for 42.

Mumbai needed someone to play a marathon knock to ensure a significant first-innings lead and Sarfaraz once again stepped up to the plate, adding 167 runs for the seventh wicket with Tanush Kotian (71).

In the process, Sarfaraz completed his hundred and the middle-order batter celebrated it animatedly as he was heard saying: “Come on boys, come on”. The video of his celebration is doing the rounds on social media.

Sarfaraz Khan was eventually dismissed for 162 off 220 balls, including 19 fours and 1 six. Thanks to his knock, Mumbai piled up 481 in their first innings, taking a massive lead of 337 runs.

At the close of play on Day 2, Tamil Nadu were 62/1 in their second innings, trailing Mumbai by 275 runs.
