Shubman Gill put on a show with the bat in the first quarter-final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Tuesday (November 1).
Playing for Punjab against Karnataka, the 23-year-old slammed a whirlwind century in just 49 balls. His first-ever T20 ton came just a day after he received his maiden T20I call-up for the upcoming tour of New Zealand.
Touted as India’s next batting superstar, Gill took the Karnataka bowling attack to the cleaners while opening the innings. The classy right-hander ended up scoring 126 off just 55 balls before getting dismissed in the penultimate over.
Gill smashed 9 massive sixes and 11 fours in his dazzling knock, fetching 98 runs in boundaries alone.

Thanks to Shubman Gill’s innings, Punjab piled up a mammoth 225/4 in their allotted 20 overs. Anmolpreet Singh also made a notable contribution with the bat, scoring 59 off 43 balls.
