SMAT 2022: WATCH - Umran Malik bowls at blistering speed to pick 4/27 against Maharashtra

Umran Malik is by far the fastest bowler in India currently.

Umran Malik has made a name for himself in the last 12 months as while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2021 and 2022, he broke the 150 kmph barrier on several occasions, clocking a top speed of 156.9 kmph this year.

His express pace did not go unnoticed as the selectors fast-tracked him into the Indian squad for the T20I series against South Africa in India, but did not get the chance to make his debut until the tour of Ireland.

He played both the T20Is against Ireland and the final T20I in England before being left out out of the team as it was felt there was still a need for him to work on his lines to make his pace even more effective.

He recently featured for India A against New Zealand A and played in the Duleep Trophy for North Zone before being nominated as a net bowler for India's T20 World Cup 2022 campaign, which unfortunately could not happen as there was a visa delay which meant the board decided to let him stay back in India and play the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, the premier domestic T20 tournament.

Malik utilized the opportunity to get some game time under his belt by picking up 4/27 for Jammu & Kashmir against Maharashtra on Friday (October 14).

Maharashtra won a thriller by 3 wickets but Umran's fiery spell caused a lot of hearts to flutter in the camp as he picked the wickets of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Pavan Shah, Divyang Hinganekar and Shamshuzama Kazi.

On Sunday, Umran took to Instagram to share some highlights of his 4-fer as part of a reel along with the work he has been putting in at the gym.

With a jam-packed season ahead for Team India after the T20 World Cup, Umran is likely to be back in the reckoning soon if he keeps delivering the performances like this one in the ongoing domestic season.
