Cheteshwar Pujara included in Saurashtra’s squad for Irani Cup 2022, Jaydev Unadkat named captain

Saurashtra will face Rest of India squad in the Irani Cup 2022.

Cheteshwar Pujara | GettyWith the Irani Cup resuming this season after the break of three years due to COVID-19, left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat has been named the captain of the Saurashtra squad.

The Ranji Trophy Champions of the 2019-20 season will take on the Hanuma Vihari-led Rest of India (ROI) squad in a five-day match next month.

The 16-member squad also features veteran batter Cheteshwar Pujara, who has scored 6792 runs in 96 Tests for India with 18 centuries.

Pujara's presence will certainly bolster Saurashtra’s batting line-up. The right-hander has been in terrific form in the ongoing season and his stunning exploits for Sussex in county cricket saw him earn a recall to the national team.

Besides, the squad also includes Sheldon Jackson, Arpit Vasavada, Dharmendrasinh Jadeja, Prerak Mankad and capped pacer Chetan Sakariya.

The Irani Trophy fixture will be played at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot from October 1-5, 2022.
