Hanuma Vihari to lead star-studded Rest of India squad in Irani Cup 2022

Rest of India will face 2019-20 Ranji Champions Saurashtra in the Irani Cup 2022.

Hanuma Vihari | GettyWith the Irani Cup resuming this season after the break of three years due to COVID-19, Hanuma Vihari has been named as the captain of the Rest of India (ROI) squad that will take on 2019-20 Ranji Trophy Champions Saurashtra in a five-day match next month.

The All-India Senior Selection Committee on Wednesday (September 28) announced the Rest of India squad, which includes opener India international Mayank Agarwal as well.

The selection panel has picked a top-order heavy squad with India A captain Priyank Panchal, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Yash Dhull also featuring in the team.

Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan, who was the top scorer in this year’s Ranji Trophy with 982 runs from 9 innings, is also part of the ROI squad.  

KS Bharat and Upendra Yadav are two wicketkeepers while the fast bowling attack includes Mukesh Kumar, Kuldeep Sen, Arzan Nagwaswalla and Umran Malik. Jayant Yadav, Saurabh Kumar and R Sai Kishore are the spinners in the 16-member squad.

The match will be played at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot from October 1-5, 2022.
