India all-rounder Washington Sundar impressed one and all on his County debut for Lancashire as he returned with the figures of 4 for 69 against Northamptonshire at County Ground, Northampton on Tuesday (July 19).

It was Sundar’s comeback match in red-ball cricket and the 22-year-old accounted for the dismissals of opener Will Young (2), a well-set Rob Keogh (54), Ryan Rickleton (22), and Tom Taylor (1).

Sundar had sustained a finger injury during the England tour in July last year, which kept him away from first-class cricket and other formats for a while.

Washington Sundar has represented India in 4 Tests, 4 ODIs and 31 T20Is so far. He was part of the team that won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21 in Australia.

Coming to the match, Northampton were 218/7 in 72 overs at the close of play on Day 1 of the County Championship Division One fixture.
