The first match of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL 2022) began in a dramatic way as the first match of the season went into a super over and viewers saw N Jagadeesan retort with an indecent gesture after being run out.
In the fourth over of the Chepauk Super Gillies' chase against Nellai Royal Kings, Jagadeesan was caught backing up by Baba Aparajith, who went on to 'Mankad' him. After getting over his disbelief of getting out in such a manner, Jagadeesan retorted with a middle finger gesture towards the opposition and continued his tirade as he walked towards the dressing room.
Custodians of cricket laws, the Marylebone Cricket Club, recently re-classified the controversial runout, from law 41's 'unfair play' and incorporated it within law 38 pertaining to legitimate runouts.
Jagadeesan had made 25 off 15 before his dismissal and made the gesture once again after removing his gloves.
