Mumbai batter Suved Parkar made a memorable debut in first-class cricket as he smashed a double-century in the ongoing second quarterfinal of the Ranji Trophy 2022 against Uttarakhand on June 7 (Tuesday) at Alur Cricket Ground.

Parkar was added to the Mumbai squad for the first time for the Ranji Trophy knockouts as a replacement for the injured  Ajinkya Rahane. The 21-year-old made the most of the opportunity and went on to hit a double-century while batting at number four for Mumbai.

With the stunning knock, Parkar became the 12th Indian batter to hit a double-century on debut in first-class cricket. He also became the second Mumbai batter to register a double ton on debut in a knockout match of the Ranji Trophy, after current head coach Amol Mazumdar.

Apart from Parkar, Sarfaraz Khan's dream run also continued in the Ranji Trophy 2021-22, scoring 153 off 205 balls in the second quarterfinal against Uttarakhand, and adding 267 runs with Parkar.

Parkar made 252 runs with 21 fours and 4 sixes to his name as Mumbai declared on 647/8.

Hailing the Mumbai duo, India and Mumbai batter Suryakumar Yadav took to Twitter to congratulate Parkar on his milestone and lauded Khan for his brilliance with the bat.

Yadav wrote on Twitter: “Double hundred on Debut. Special knock Suved parkar. Very happy to see Sarfaraz khan continuing his Dream run.”
