Jharkhand dominated the Nagaland attack in their Ranji Trophy pre-quarterfinal clash to register the fourth-highest team total in the tournament's history on Monday (March 14).
Riding on stunning display from their middle-order batters and the tail-enders, Jharkhand crossed the 800-run mark on Day 3 of the five-day match at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
After Virat Singh's 107, wicketkeeper batter Kumar Kushagra smashed 266 – his maiden first-class century only in his third match. Their brilliance with the bat was followed by Anukul Roy’s 59 and left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem’s second first-class ton.
During his 177-run knock, Nadeem shared a 191-run stand for the 10th wicket with Rahul Shukla, who ended with a fine knock of 85.
Jharkhand’s gigantic total was just the seventh instance of 800-plus total in India's premier first-class tournament and the highest at the iconic Eden Gardens.
