India’s U19 World Cup 2022 winning captain, Yash Dhull, was on Wednesday (February 9), named in the Delhi squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2022, which starts on February 17. Delhi will be captained by left-arm pacer Pradeep Sangwan.
However, veteran speedster Ishant Sharma will miss the premier India domestic FC tournament, as he has made himself unavailable for selection.
It is being reported that Ishant communicated the same to Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) president Rohan Jaitley that he is not available for selection for the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2022 after he found that his future in the Indian cricket team was uncertain.
Meanwhile, Dhull is expected to visit his hometown of Delhi on Thursday, February 10, before joining the state squad in Guwahati later that day, as the U19 captain is required to arrive in Guwahati and complete a five-day quarantine with the rest of the team.
Well, Dhull could not play the U19 domestic red-ball tournament lately due to his white-ball commitments with the Indian team, but with his inclusion into the Delhi squad for the Ranji Trophy 2022, he will get a taste of red-ball cricket at the much tougher first-class level.
Notably, the Yash Dhull-led India U19 cricket team was felicitated by the BCCI on Wednesday during the second ODI between India and West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
