A fire broke out inside Karachi National Stadium a couple of days before the opening match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Tuesday (January 25). It is reported that the fire erupted inside the make-shift commentary box at the stadium.

The commentary box on the third floor of the National Stadium has been moved to the ground due to being part of the biosecure bubble of commentators and broadcasters. The National Stadium is the home ground of Karachi Kings in the tournament.

The first 15 matches of the tournament are scheduled to be played in Karachi from Thursday (January 27). The National Stadium will host the tournament opener between Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans on Thursday.

A PCB spokesperson confirmed that a fire brigade vehicle and personnel have been deployed at the stadium to deal with any emergency from now onward. As reported by Cricket Pakistan, the fire was caused by a short circuit in the power lines.

PSL is expected to have more secure bio-bubbles this time and Karachi will permit only 25% of the crowd as a precautionary measure. The rest of the games, including the final, will be staged in Lahore.

England players, like Alex Hales, Jason Roy, Saqib Mahmood, Chris Jordan, and Will Smeed, will also be part of the tournament.
