Hanuma Vihari parts ways with Andhra, to play for Hyderabad

Vihari is back to playing for Hyderabad after he previously left the team in 2015-16 season

The right-hand batsman who had left Hyderabad to join Andhra in domestic cricket a few years back to further his international prospects is now going back "home" after five seasons for the upcoming domestic season.

I am taking this opportunity to inform everyone that I am parting ways with Andhra cricket association on good terms. I have had the privilege to captain and represent Andhra for the past 5 years,” the 27-year-old announced himself on Twitter.

Vihari had left Hyderabad in the 2015-16 season after the then chairman of selectors, MSK Prasad had offered him the captaincy of the Andhra team and also pushed for his selection in the longest format of the game.

The Indian cricketer then thanked Andhra Cricket Association office-bearers for their support, as he wrote, “We have blossomed into a team that we can be proud of and I herby thank all my teammates, coaches, and office-bearers of the Association for the constant support.

With the Hyderabad Cricket Association now being run by Mohammad Azharuddin, Vihari will be back to donning the Hyderabad jersey and there is a good chance the batsman might also lead the side if he is not selected for India's tour of South Africa in December-January.

The right-hand batsman has played 94 first-class games scoring 7261 runs with 21 hundreds and an average of 55. He also played 80 List A games in which he has 3001 runs.

As far as international cricket is concerned, the middle-order batsman has played 12 Tests and scored 624 runs, with 111 as his highest score. He made his Test debut against England at The Oval' in 2018.
