WATCH: R Ashwin claims six-wicket haul for Surrey against Somerset in second innings

Ashwin, who picked up just one wicket in 43 overs in Somerset’s first innings, wreaked havoc with the ball in the second essay.

Steven Davies (7), Tom Lammonby (3), James Hildreth (14), George Bartlett (12), Roelof van der Merwe (7) and Ben Green (3) were his victims.

Thanks to Ashwin’s figures of 6/27 in 15 overs, Surrey bowled out Somerset for a paltry 69 in the second innings, needing 259 runs to win the match on the fourth and final day.

The off-spinner, who has taken 413 wickets from 79 Tests, is playing this match in order to get valuable match practice for the upcoming five-Test series against England.

The Test series, part of the second WTC cycle, is scheduled to start on August 4 at Trent Bridge.
