Faf du Plessis ruled out of rest of the PSL 2021 due to concussion

The former South Africa had a freak collision in a match against Peshawar Zalmi.

Former South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis who had recently suffered a concussion during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 match was ruled out of the remainder of the tournament on Wednesday (June 16).

After a nasty collision with his Quetta Gladiators teammate Mohammad Hasnain while trying to save a boundary during their PSL match against Peshawar Zalmi on Sunday, du Plessis who was playing his second match after league’s resumption suffered concussion.

The South African was back from the hospital on the same day and was overwhelmed by the number of wishes he had received from across the globe and thanked everyone for their love on Twitter. He also confirmed he suffered some memory loss due to the collision.

Thank you everyone for all the messages of support. I'm back at the hotel recovering. Have concussion with some memory loss but I will be fine. Hopefully be back on the field soon. Much love,” he tweeted.

On Wednesday, after getting ruled out of the T20 tournament, the right-handed batsman flew back home.

The 36-year-old was playing his second game of the PSL upon its resumption. He had scored 5 against Islamabad United as the Gladiators lost the match by 10 wickets.

Before the resumption of PSL, du Plessis played in the IPL 2021, where he scored 320 runs from seven matches, including four consecutive half-centuries. His good form helped Chennai Super Kings reach second position on the points table.
