Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021: Not bogged down by IPL snub, Sreesanth picks another four-fer for Kerala

Sreesanth is currently the leading wicket-taker for Kerala in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021.

S Sreesanth | TwitterSreesanth has continued his rich form with the ball in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 season with yet another four-for against Bihar on Sunday, February 28.

Sreesanth registered himself for the IPL 2021 auction hoping to get an opportunity to play after more than 7 years. However, he wasn't even shortlisted in the final list of 298 players that were to go up for bidding.

He has not been bogged down by this fact and has managed to put all his efforts into trying to win the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 tournament for Kerala. Sreesanth has picked up 13 wickets in 5 games so far, which is more than anybody else from his team. The 38-year-old is now in the top five wicket-takers of the ongoing tournament.

Coming to his four-for against Bihar, he picked both the openers, Mangal Mahrour and S Gani, in his very first over of the game. The pacer later came back in his second spell to scalp another couple of wickets, that of Shasheem Rathour and Vikash Ranjan.

Sreesanth finished with figures of 9-2-30-4 and took his wickets tally to 13. Bihar was folded out for a paltry total of 148 in 40.1 overs. Kerala needed to chase down the target in under 17 overs. Robin Uthappa (87* off 32), Vishnu Vinod (37 off 12), and Sanju Samson (24* off 9) came out all guns blazing and scraped off the target in just 8.5 overs.

Earlier, he had picked a five-wicket haul against Uttar Pradesh in Kerala's second game of the tournament. Kerala would hope that the veteran continues to play in this manner and takes them to the title win.
