An unnamed Bihar cricketer has reportedly tested positive for the COVID-19 in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 and has been kept under isolation in Bangalore.
Following the COVID-19 case in the team, all the other 22 players from the Bihar squad underwent the testing on Tuesday (February 23) with the results coming by evening. However, Bihar’s all matches of the ongoing national ODI championship will go ahead as planned.
A senior official of Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) told PTI on Tuesday: “It is confirmed and the concerned player has been isolated from other players. He is currently in Bangalore as he cannot travel.”
The Bihar team is placed in Elite Group C and is playing all its league games of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 in Bengaluru. Bihar played Karnataka in Bangalore on Monday and now they are scheduled to take on Uttar Pradesh in a league game on Wednesday (February 24).
Meanwhile, a player from Maharashtra and Himachal Pradesh side tested positive for COVID-19 last week, but both the teams placed in Elite Group D have continued playing their league games after undergoing tests in the tournament in Jaipur.
Noteworthy, all the matches of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy are being played under the bio-secure bubble across venues amid the COVID-19 outbreak in India.
