Mumbai is sweating over the fitness of their key batsman Shreyas Iyer ahead of the upcoming Vijay Hazare One-Day Trophy 2021.

This is due to their horrible performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy last month, where they managed just one victory in 5 matches and didn't make it into the knockouts.

Meanwhile, Iyer had missed the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy due to a shoulder injury and is still recovering from the same, which has increased Mumbai’s concerns for the upcoming Vijay Hazare One-Day Trophy, which is likely to begin on February 15.

It is being said that Mumbai will have to wait till February 10 to know if Shreyas will recover and be available for the Vijay Hazare One-Day Trophy, which is likely to begin on February 15.

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) secretary Sanjay Naik has on Wednesday (February 3) revealed that Iyer has informed the state body that he is recuperating in the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangaluru and He will be able to tell by February 10 whether he will be able to play in the tournament.

Naik told TOI: “He has informed us that he is recuperating in the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and will be able to tell us on 10th if he will be fit and available to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.”

Noteworthy, Shreyas was initially named in 104 probables for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, but Mumbai's selectors forced to cut down the list to 39.

These probables have been divided into three teams, A, B & C led by Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, and Prithvi Shaw respectively in the practice matches on February 4, 5 & 6.
