Perth Scorchers all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been fined $5,000 and charged with a Level 2 offense under the Cricket Australia Code of Conduct. Marsh was upset over a decision and he showed dissent towards the on-field umpire which didn't go well for him. 

It was the Big Bash League (BBL 10) qualifier match between Perth and Sydney Sixers on Saturday (January 30) when the incident happened. Marsh was given caught behind and he felt there wasn't any contact of the bat and ball to rule him out.

"Marsh was charged by match referee Bob Stratford under Article 2.8 of the Code of Conduct for showing dissent at an umpire's decision during a match. Marsh accepted the charge and proposed sanction of a $5,000 fine," Cricket Australia said in a statement.

During the 13th over of Perth's innings in the match, Marsh tried to put the bat on the ball off Steve O'Keefe's delivery which was going down leg. The batsman didn't hit it but wicket-keeper Joshua Philippe was confident and he appealed for a catch along with O'Keefe.

Marsh was in disbelief after finding out he was given out. He shouted at the decision in frustration while returning to the pavilion after scoring 2 runs off 5 deliveries. 

The 29-year-old has accepted the fine and he agreed his reaction on the decision was not good. "I accept the fine handed down to me, my reaction to the umpire's decision was unacceptable and not the example I want to be setting for any young cricketer. I have complete respect for the umpires and the job they do. I'll learn from this and look forward to Thursday night's match.", he said in a statement.
