The third quarter-final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy 2021 saw Haryana facing Baroda at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday (January 27).
Asked to bat first, Haryana posted 148/7 in 20 overs on the back of Himanshu Rana’s 40-ball 49 and notable contributions from Shivam Chauhan (35 off 29 balls) and Chaitanya Bishnoi (21 off 15 balls).
Off-spinner Karthik Kakade was the stand-out bowler for Baroda, claiming 2 wickets by conceding only 7 runs in his two overs.
In reply, Baroda overhauled the target in the last delivery of the match thanks to Vishnu Solanki’s unbeaten 71 off 46 balls. Needing 18 in the final over, Solanki smashed Sumit Kumar for 19 runs, including a six on the last ball to seal the deal.
Apart from Solanki, Kedar Devdhar played a vital knock of 40-ball 43 at the top as Baroda achieved the target with 8 wickets in hand.
Baroda will now face Punjab in the second semi-final in Ahmedabad on Friday (January 29).
