The Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) on Friday (December 4) appointed former India player Atul Wassan as the chairperson of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) for the upcoming season.

Apart from Wassan, who earlier served as the chairman of the senior selection committee of the DDCA for the 2019-20 season, former Indian cricketers Parvinder Awana and Robin Singh Junior are the other two members of the new three-member committee.

Wassan played 4 Tests and 9 ODIs for India but he has been a prominent face in cricket broadcasting. The latest development was the first cricketing policy decision taken by the newly-elected DDCA president Rohan Jaitley, son of late Union Minister Arun Jaitley.

Jaitley said the committee will be responsible for maintaining the highest levels of transparency as well as make recommendations to the president of the DDCA and the BCCI about tournaments to be held in view of the COVID-19 situation which is worsening in Delhi.

The CAC will also recommend the constitution of the selection committee, coaches, managers, and support staff in the DDCA as well as recommend the terms, conditions, and tenures for appointments of all cricketing posts (selectors, support staff, coaches, and managers).

Noteworthy, the recommendations can only be put forth as and when BCCI announces the tournament schedule considering the prevailing COVID-19 situation.
