BBL 10: CA confirms full draw, awards BBL fixtures to Perth, Melbourne and Sydney

The eight-team tournament is now scheduled to be held across the country.

The tournament kickstarts on December 10 | GettyHaving earlier announced Tasmania, Queensland and South Australia as venues for the upcoming home summer's Big Bash League (BBL) matches, Cricket Australia (CA) on Monday (November 23) added Western Australia, New South Wales and Victoria to the roster for the tournament beginning December 10.

Although "subject to the public health situation and associated impacts including border restrictions", stadiums in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney will now be seen hosting games for BBL 10 in January.

The competitions kicks-off with matches in Hobart and Canberra, but then shifts to Perth on January 3 for the first of five matches to be played at the venue, four of which will be home games for Perth Scorchers. From January 13, the caravan moves to Sydney and Melbourne. The iconic SCG will share the eight matches to be played in NSW equally with the Showground Stadium.

Victoria has been allocated 11 of the matches, with the MCG set to play host for six of them and the rest scheduled at the Marvel Stadium.

Additionally, the Adelaide Oval, the Gabba, Metricon Stadium and Blundstone Arena are also due to host games in early January for the eight-team event.

"The League is delighted to confirm the boldest schedule in Australian sport since the pandemic began by committing to take matches to every club's home market in BBL|10," Alistair Dobson, Cricket Australia's Head of Big Bash Leagues, was quoted as saying in a media release.

"This schedule is a testament to the strength of the League and ensures our fans around the country will get the chance to see their BBL Clubs in action on home soil."

CA, however, has held off ticket selling for December's games in Adelaide considering the recent second wave of Coronavirus there.

"The League is monitoring the situation in South Australia closely and is working with governments to understand its impact on the BBL|10 season," an official release said. "Information regarding tickets for remaining matches will be made available in due course."

The tournament final is scheduled to be held on February 6.
