Pace legend Wasim Akram has been confirmed as the interim head coach of the Karachi Kings for the remainder of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 this month in Pakistan.

Wasim has himself confirmed that he will be the Karachi Kings’ head coach for the playoffs of the PSL 5 after Dean Jones tragically passed away in September in India.

In a live video conference on YouTube with Cricslab, Wasim said that Jones – who coached the Kings during the group stage of the PSL 2020 earlier this year, can’t be replaced and will be immensely missed when the tournament resumes on November 14.

While saying there is no coach in the world can ever take the place of Jones, Akram said “they will leave his seat in our dressing room with his name” in honor of the Australian great.

Akram said, “I am not taking Jones’s place as Kings’ head coach. I mean he will be missed throughout and we will leave his seat in our dressing room with his name.”

Hailing Jones' instrumental support for Pakistan cricket, the legendary cricketer said: “He was a great buddy of mine. I know how he advocated for Pakistan across the world. He talked about Pakistan’s cricket, food, talent, and hospitality everywhere in the world.”

Wasim signed off by taking, “I believe he was a great human being and as a coach he was brilliant. No coach in this world can take his place ever.”

Noteworthy, the PSL 2020 Qualifier and Eliminator 1 will be held on November 14, while Eliminator 2 will take place on November 15 with the final on November 17.

The Multan Sultans and Kings will battle out in the Qualifier for a final place while the Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi will clash in Eliminator 1.
