The global COVID-19 pandemic continues to wreak havoc on cricket and it certainly has impacted the financial condition of boards.

In a latest development, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has asked around 240 cricketers, officials and other stakeholders, who will play a part in the National T20 Championship later this month, to pay for their initial COVID-19 tests.

According to a PTI report, the board has made it obligatory for everyone taking part in the National event to return two negative COVID-19 tests before they are cleared to feature in the tournament, starting September 30 in Rawalpindi and Multan.

The PCB, however, is willing to pay for the second COVID-19 test.

"The initial test the players, officials and stakeholders have to pay for themselves," a PCB source quoted as saying by PTI.

The PCB has not mentioned any laboratory or hospital from where the players, officials and stakeholders must get their initial tests done.

The board has only asked the players to submit their initial Coronavirus test report to their manager or coach.

As per the source, the board has already started working on making both the venues a comprehensive bio-secure environment.
