Former Indian cricketer Munaf Patel, former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, and T20 freelancers Chris Gayle, Darren Sammy and Darren Bravo are among the prominent players who will go under the hammer for the upcoming Lankan Premier League (LPL) 2020 in Sri Lanka.

Shakib Al Hasan, Ravi Bopara, Colin Munro and Vernon Philander are also among the 150 players in the pool for the player auction set for October 1 with each of the five franchises allowed to buy up to six international players for the T20 franchise tournament.

The LPL is set to be held from November 14 to December 6 in Dambulla, Hambantota, and Pallekele with the five franchises taking part are Dambulla Hawks, Colombo Lions, Galle Gladiators, Jaffna Hawks, and Kandy Tuskers.

The 23-match event will have 30 overseas cricketers and the remaining 65 local ones, while each squad will have 19 members for the inauguration edition of the Sri Lanka’s T20 league.

Noteworthy, the Sri Lankan Cricket officials have requested that the quarantine period for those arriving in the country to be reduced to seven days from the present 14-day period since there is no community spread of COVID-19 in the country, but the government is yet to approve a shorter quarantine period for the LPL.

The LPL was originally scheduled to take place in August, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced the tournament to be rescheduled to November 2020.
