The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has revisited the idea of staging the remaining matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020. The league's fifth edition was suspended without its last round of matches played in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The PCB has now called for a PSL governing council meeting where all six franchises will also be asked to give their opinion on the matter.

It is understood that the board has notified teams that the expenses of conducting the remaining fixtures of PSL 2020 later this year will outweigh the earnings that would be made in the prevalent circumstances. 

The franchises, it is learnt, have sent a joint letter to the PCB where they've pointed out their concerns, mostly financial ones. 

This was the first time the PSL was played entirely in Pakistan since its inaugural edition in 2016. The league had been played mostly in UAE until now, with just the play-offs held in stadiums in Karachi and Lahore. 

At the end of the 30-game league phase, table-toppers Multan Sultans, Karachi Kings, third-ranked Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi had made it to the next round. 

Top officials within the PCB were recently reported to have said that the PSL 2020 play-offs could be held in October-November if the ICC decides to postpone the T20 World Cup, scheduled in Australia at the time. 

The PCB is also keen to have the Asia Cup T20 played on time in September, but its Indian counterpart, BCCI, isn't as excited about the idea, especially given the pandemic is only peaking here in India and the national side is yet to return to training.
