MS Dhoni's Team India future has always been in discussion ever since his last outing in World Cup 2019 semifinal. There were talks about Dhoni's return to the national team if his Indian Premier Leauge (IPL) 2020 performance was worth it.

But currently, there is no surety whether the tournament will be played in the near future or not because of COVID-19 pandemic.

With T20 World Cup lined up later this year, there is no reason to get him in the side again considering India has also solved their wicket-keeper batsman issue in limited-overs cricket. With KL Rahul delivering with the bat and doing a decent job behind the stumps, India is breathing easy.

But as per the sources of Sportskeeda, Dhoni isn't ready to give up so early. He is thinking about playing for Jharkhand in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy next year.

The reports from the website say Dhoni is in touch with the President and other board members regularly. Dhoni, after losing his annual contract with BCCI, had returned to practice with the state team in JSCA.

"Dhoni has been training in the JSCA international complex now and then and has been in touch with JSCA officials. He has expressed his interest to play Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy next year, even JSCA put forward the proposal to him. He has always expressed his interest in giving back to state cricket. He will take a decision post lockdown about this, there is no hurry either. He wants to be match ready for the IPL, and will use the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as practice.", said the source as per Sportskeeda.

The 38-year-old hasn't played any competitive cricket since July 2019. He kept himself away from domestic cricket for almost 3 years now.
