PSL 2020: Shane Watson reveals reason behind his apology to Wasim Akram during bush fire charity match

Watson also said that Wasim is his childhood hero.

Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson is one of the biggest superstars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) having featured in each of the past four editions of the franchise-based T20 event and he has landed in Pakistan once again to win the hearts.

He will turn up for the Quetta Gladiators in the tournament starting February 20 with his team taking Islamabad United in the PSL 2020 opener at National Stadium in Karachi.

In the last season, the Aussie played a key role in the Quetta Gladiators’ PSL title glory, finishing 2019 season with the leading run-scorer with 430 runs in 12 matches at a strike-rate of 143.81.

Well, the Aussie all-rounder has recently had the media interaction on Tuesday where he revealed his favorite Pakistani player and he is none other than Wasim Akram, naming the face bowling legend as one of his childhood heroes.

The duo recently featured in the Bushfire ‘Big Appeal’ charity game at SCG, where Watson, who retired from international cricket after the 2016 T20 World Cup, hit the legendary pacer for the consecutive sixes and even he kept apologizing to his childhood hero for the same.

Wasim Akram recently played in Big Bash bushfire charity gameAs per reports in PakPassion, Watson said: “I still feel really bad about that – Wasim [was] one of my heroes when I was growing up and now as well as he is a quality person. I felt very bad especially after [the] the second one went in the breeze and kept going, I continued to apologize to Wasim.”

The all-rounder has also quashed the chances of coming out of his international retirement.

Watson signed off by saying, “In regards to comeback for Australia in T20 World Cup, no, I am very happily retired and I love doing what I am doing in different tournaments but now with Quetta Gladiators is one of the highlights of my year and it’s a pleasure to be here again.”
