New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson is all set to return to the English County side – Somerset for the third consecutive time for the upcoming season of the Vitality T20 Blast 2020 starting May 28.

The club announced the re-signing of the 29-year-old as their second overseas signing after Pakistan’s limited-over captain Babar Azam in T20 cricket on Monday (February 10).

Anderson played for Somerset in the 2017 campaign, scoring 142 runs at 71 in four matches before injuries interrupted his season and 2018 season as well – where he cracked 514 runs at a strike rate of 169.07 to help the club to reach the finals of the English T20 competition.

The all-rounder, who represented the Black Caps in 13 Tests, 49 ODIs and 31 T20Is for New Zealand, will be available for Somerset for all 14 group games of this summer’s T20 competition as well as for the knockout stages if the club qualifies.

Somerset Director Andy Harri said of Anderson's return: “In the last two seasons that Corey played with us, he proved to be effective both on and off the field. When we were discussing our international players for the next season, his name came first. Because he is one of the best T20 players in the world and he is very popular among our supporters and support staff. I as an opponent and a person and can’t praise. We are pleased that he will join with us in 2020 again.”

Meanwhile, the new Zealander is excited to rejoin the club for the upcoming season, adding: “I'm looking forward to playing for Somerset again next summer. The club has a great squad and the atmosphere in the dressing room is one of the best I've experienced.”

Anderson signed off by saying, “The supporters are very knowledgeable and get right behind the team. It's a great place to play cricket and hopefully, I can help the club go one better than we did in 2018 and make the Vitality Blast final.”
