Chris Gayle, West Indian hard-hitter and the Universal Boss of T20 cricket, is all set to play in the upcoming fourth edition of the Everest Premier League (EPL) 2020 – Nepal’s franchise-based cricket tournament to be held in Kathmandu from 29th February to 14th March.

The swashbuckling opening batsman has joined fellow West Indian Dwayne Smith and Sri Lanka’s Upul Tharanga as Full Member signings for the EPL 2020.

Gayle will be seen in action for the Pokhara Rhinos in Nepal’s upcoming tournament and the franchise has confirmed the news at a press meet at the Soaltee Crown Plaza in Kathmandu while the EPL announced the latest development on Twitter on Thursday (January 30).

Pokhara owner Deepa Agarwal said of Gayle’s signing: “It’s almost unbelievable that a man who is synonymous to T20 cricket will be playing for my team in Nepal’s biggest T20 event. This is going to be an exciting learning opportunity for all my players to play with this legendary cricket and the rest to play against him. We are ready for the Gayle Storm!”

Meanwhile, the EPL Managing Director Aamir Akhtar revealed that “It took us around six to seven months to convince Gayle to play in upcoming EPL tournament in Nepal.”

On the other hand, Gayle has also confirmed his participation in the EPL 2020 in a video message on Twitter. He said: “I will be visiting Nepal for the biggest sporting event, the Everest Premier League. Come and support my team Pokhara Rhinos and be part of a magnificent cricket fiesta.”

However, the financial details of Gayle’s deal with the EPL and Pokhara are confidential.
