Brisbane Heat’s England opener Tom Banton made quite a splash in T20 cricket recently when he became known for his hard-hitting style and a penchant for hitting sixes. This led to him being picked by Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2020 auction as well.

Meanwhile, he is currently playing in the BBL 09 edition and on Monday, showed why he is considered to be a deadly opener in the format. In a clash between his Heat and Sydney Thunder at the Sydney Showground Stadium, the Brisbane team got off to a flyer with skipper Lynn and Banton tonking the ball to all parts of the ground.

The poor fellow who received the majority of punishment was Thunder’s bowler Arjun Nair. He conceded five sixes in the very first over he bowled and it was Banton who hit the ball way back into the crowd.

He reached his fifty in just 16 balls, which is the second-fastest half-century in BBL history. The 21-year-old scored 56 runs from 19 deliveries, which included two fours and seven sixes. His quickfire hitting helped Brisbane score 119 in eight overs in the first innings of the rain-curtailed match.

He was in the tremendous mood from the start of the match, as he hit Daniel Sam for a six off the first ball and then hit a reverse sweep of the fast bowler for a four off the third ball.
