Competitive cricket once again saw six sixes in an over during a Super Smash match between Canterbury and Northern Knights on Sunday. It was a high scoring game as Knights scored 219/7 batting first in their 20 overs. Chasing such a big target, Canterbury were always in the game.
The Cole McConchie-led side needed over 12 runs per over in the last 10 overs. The chase got easier for them as they didn't lose any wicket after the dismissal of Stephen Murdoch in the 11th over.
Canterbury needed 64 runs in 5 overs and that is when Leo Carter launched Anton Devcich for six sixes in a row. He smashed all the sixes on the leg-side. The requirement was reduced to 28 runs off 24 balls after this over.
Carter ended with unbeaten 70 runs in 29 balls. His team chased down the target of 220 inside 19 overs. It was a superb display of clean striking.
