Bangladesh’s pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman is looking forward to performing on a consistent basis with the ball after getting his rhythm back in the Chattogram phase of the ongoing Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League 2019-20.
Mustafizur faced a torrid time with the ball for the past few months and even failed to impress in the recent three-match T20I series against India which led him to miss the two-match Test series. The poor form was also continued in the initial phase of Bangladesh’s T20 tournament.
Though, the left-arm pacer managed to be able to shine from the Chattogram phase, as he eventually gives an indication of his return to his superlative form with the ball taking 3/10 for Rangpur Rangers against Sylhet Royals.

Following the brilliant show, the bowler believes that he can achieve consistency in bowling by sorting the problem with his run-up while revealing that he has always preferred bowling his biggest weapon cutter in the day as it is effective on the dry wicket.
Mustafizur said, “It is not like everything is ok but I am trying. But doing well in only two matches won't help much as I need to perform on a consistent basis. For the last couple of days, I was having a problem with my run-up. Today the best part was that my run-up was smooth and so I could bowl the way I wanted to. Earlier whenever I tried to bowl something different or trying to bowl my yorker my foot was landing outside but now I am trying to sort it out.”
He continued, “It is better for me if the game is on day time because my biggest weapon is my cutter and it is effective in the dry wicket. At night it is hard to bowl the cutter because of the wicket [because of the ball skids more as it is wet due to dew].”
Meanwhile, Mustafizur's return to his form has given a big relief to the national team management, as the BBPL is a metric to assess the fast bowler's progress.
National selector Habibul Bashar said: “We don't have any doubt on his skill but he needed to execute it in the middle and the way he is doing it now it is certainly very good news for Bangladesh cricket.”
