Opting to bat first, Stars posted 163/4 in 20 overs on the back of Marcus Stoinis’ 81 not out off 54 balls. Nic Maddinson (40 off 39 balls) also played a decent knock at the top of the order.
Riley Meredith was the stand-out bowler for Hurricanes, claiming 3 for 27 in his stipulated four overs.
In reply, Hurricanes were bowled out for just 111 in 16 overs with Haris Rauf (5/27), Glenn Maxwell (2/15) and Adam Zampa (2/29) doing the damage with the ball. Clive Rose was the top-scorer for Hurricanes with 18-ball 32*.

In the 9th match of BBL 2019-20, Sydney Sixers locked horns with Brisbane Heat at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Asked to bat first, Heat rode on captain Chris Lynn’s 35-ball 94 (4 fours & 11 sixes) to pile up a colossal 209/4 in 20 overs. Matt Renshaw was also a significant contributor with the bat, scoring 60 not out off 39 deliveries.
Ben Manenti (2/38) and Sean Abbott (2/42) were among the wickets for Sixers.
In the chase, Sydney batters got starts but no one managed to make it count. James Vince was the top-scorer for the home team with 27-ball 39.
Mitchell Swepson (2/27) was the pick of the bowlers while Zahir Khan (1/24) and Josh Lalor (1/35) were also economical with the ball as Heat eventually restricted Sixers to 161/7 in 20 overs.
