Paarl Rocks celebrate their victory | TwitterAfter a month of riveting cricket action across South Africa, the Mzansi Super League 2019 finished on Monday (December 17) with Paarl Rocks defeating Tshwane Spartans in the final to lift the prestigious tournament trophy at the Boland Park.

Batting first, Spartans could manage only a modest total of 147/6 with the great AB de Villiers scoring a fine-century (51) but the rest failing to provide him the support he needed; Isuru Udana (2/24) and Tabraiz Shamsi (2/29) delivered the stand-out spells for the Rocks.

In the run-chase, taking confidence from a very good bowling performance, the Rocks simply ran away with the game as Henry Davids struck a magnificent 44-ball 77 not out while Dwaine Pretorius scored a blistering 21-ball 43, helping their team reach home and achieve glory in less than 15 overs with still eight wickets left in the shed.

Imran Manack (1/18) and David Wiese (1/34) picked up the two wickets that fell.

The result culminated a fantastic season for the Paarl Rocks as they topped the six-team league table before showing off their class again in the summit-clash.
