BPL 2019-20: Challengers defeat Rangers by 6 wickets; Thunder lost to Platoon by 24 runs

Chattogram Challengers and Rangpur Rangers faced each other in the 7th match of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2019-20 at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Saturday (December 14).

Asked to bat first, Rangers posted 157/8 in 20 overs on the back of Mohammad Naim’s 54-ball 78 including 6 fours and 3 sixes. Skipper Mohammad Nabi also played a crucial cameo of 12-ball 21.

Kesrick Williams was the stand-out bowler for Challengers, claiming 2 for 35 in his four overs.

In reply, Chattogram overhauled the target in 18.2 overs with contributions from Chadwick Walton (50 off 34 balls), Imrul Kayes (44* off 33 balls) and Avishka Fernando (37 off 23 balls).

Lewis Gregory was the pick of the bowlers for Rangers, taking 2 for 27 in his stipulated four overs.

In the 8th match of BPL 2019-20, Dhaka Platoon and Sylhet Thunder locked horns with each other at the same venue.

Sent into bat first, Platoon piled up a mammoth 182/4 in 20 overs courtesy Anamul Haque’s 62 off 42 deliveries. Tamim Iqbal (31off 28 balls), Thisara Perera (22 off 11 balls), Laurie Evans (21 off 21 balls) and Jaker Ali (20 off 12 balls) were the other notable contributors with the bat.

Except for Mosaddek Hossain, none of the bowlers were economical for Thunder as their captain picked up 1 for 16 in his three overs.

Defending the total, Platoon restricted Thunder to 158/7 in 20 overs. Skipper Mosaddek was the lone warrior with the bat as well, scoring 60 not out off 44 balls.

For Platoon, Mashrafe Mortaza (2/29) and Hasan Mahmud (2/24) grabbed two scalps each while Wahab Riaz chipped in with one wicket.
