Wasim Jaffer graced the field for his 150th Ranji Trophy game on Monday (December 9) at the start of a new season playing for Vidarbha against Andhra at the Devineni Venkata Ramana Praneetha Ground in Vijayawada.
Jaffer had last season itself gone past Devendra Bundela (145) and Amol Muzumdar (136) in the record list, becoming the most capped Ranji Trophy cricketer, and has now created a record many would envy.
The 41-year-old tops the run-tally in the tournament's history since November 2018 when he became the first batsman to aggregate 11,000 runs in the competition. Jaffer also has 40 hundreds to his name, more than Ajay Sharma (31) and Muzumdar (28), second and third names in the list, respectively. He is a legend of the Indian domestic game.
Thus far, Jaffer has played 253 first-class matches, scoring 19,147 runs at an average of 51.19.
He has also turned up in 31 Tests and 2 ODIs for India.
