Playing for Rajasthan against Vidarbha, Chahar was on the cusp of taking second hat-trick within a space of three days. However, a wide ball from the pacer denied him accomplish this rare feat.

Chahar claimed three wickets off three consecutive legal deliveries, but he bowled a wide after snaring a wicket on the fourth ball. Although he immediately took a wicket the next ball, a wide in between two dismissals didn't allow Chahar to grab the hat-trick.

Shrikant Wagh, Darshan Nalkande and Akshay Wadkar were his victims in three successive legal deliveries. Chahar had earlier removed Rushabh Rathod as well and thus returned with the match figures of 4/18 in three overs .

Deepak Chahar’s heroics, however, went in vain as Vidarbha defeated Rajasthan by 1-run (VJD method) in Thiruvananthapuram.

In a rain-curtailed match, Vidarbha posted 99/9 in 13 overs after electing to bat first. Chasing the adjusted target of 106, Rajasthan managed 105/8 in 13 overs with Akshay Wakhare claiming 3/15 in his three overs for Vidarbha.
